The adventuring life can be hard. At times, extraordinarily hard. Adventurers know this though. They accept this without complaint(sometimes). If this was a real problem for them, they can always turn their swords into plowshares and take up farming… raise a family… have a good life.
Not for our trio though. Although experience can be a harsh tutor, these adventurers show a grit and determination that could help to make them great… one day. If they survive.
Our trio take on a job to deliver a message. For 50 gold they need to just let 2 dwarven minors know that there’s a dragon in the area. Upon delivering the message, Dazlyn and Norbus request the aid of the trio to take care of the beasties inside the temple they are excavating. With a pair of magic items and the promise of half the share of any treasure found as payment, the trio go in to see what’s going on.
The temple is dark. No sconces for torches, it looks like the occupants relied on their darkvision. Their search revealed hidden passages and hidden compartments in walls and pillars that hold up the temple. This group did not seem to trust people much. The quiet is broken by shock as an amorphous mass drops near Kevan just missing him. The large mass moves slowly in his direction seeking to make contact. A second mass drops and lands near Flak. Kevan and Flak react quickly attacking both creatures and maneuvering to keep from getting hit. Exchange after exchange, the trio triumph over the fell beasties. As they travel, they get familiar with the pattern of secret doors and easily find the doors leading further into the temple.
As they continue their search into the back chambers, Jodac is attacked as an amorphous creature drops on him, sliding down his back cutting him off from his people. Jodac lashes out with scorching flame. The combined attacks from the party end the creature. They move on. After clearing the temple and collecting the treasure they exit the temple and tell the dwarves what happened.
The dwarves show thanks by sharing their meal. Afterwards they split the treasure.
They spend the night and the next morning leave. Only to be attacked by orcs coming out of the woods. The orcs are in a rage, but also seem to be running from something. With no option to talk, the party ends their rage by ending their lives. The party travels back to Phandalin without further event.
