Ahhh! Victory… Sweeeeet victory. After defeating the Manticore of Umbrage Hill the adventuring duo head back to town for some rest and… celebration. They head back to Stonehill inn to get a few drinks. Upon entering the inn, the duo notice a new stranger in town. After grabbing their drinks, plus one extra, Jadoc goes over and makes fast friends with Kevan. After breaking bread, they decide to work together on their quest for fame and fortune in this town.
They decide to head out to Gnomegarden. A place rumored to have magic items that might be useful against a dragon. The uneventful trip takes almost half the day, but the river ends where it begins. At the base of a waterfall.
Surveying the area, the trio negotiate a path leading into the cavern. The gnomes direct them towards the Kings. Who live on the other side of the cavern. One of the kings has been driven to madness over an attack by a shapeshifter. He is keeping his brother safe by gluing him to a chair and locking them both in his bedroom. Gnomes can be eccentric under normal circumstances as evidenced by the senior gnome manning his repeating ballista. So, in order to complete the mission, the trio look for the shapeshifter and recruit one of the gnomes to help them poke around.
The foul creature is located in a storage room disguised as one of the storage bottles. Jodac the unfortunate in his effort to find the creature finds is and finds his hand stuck in it’s mouth. The battle engaged, Kevan and Flak seek to help Jodac before the creature takes his arm off. They hack and slash striking it with blade and arrow. Still the hide of the creature is too tough. The creature gnaws on Jodacs arm. Smoking drops of acid giving a clue to the full danger Jodac Is in.
In desperation Flak goes into a rage and begins to hack viciously at the creature Jodac passes out from the pain as the creature continues to work on digesting elf flesh.
Eventually the creature is overwhelmed. The battle won. The group help their friend and report back to the Kings on the death of the shapeshifter. The grateful kings give them a number of magic items as thanks.
